Our Squads

With our five levels of squads, we at All Star Aquatics provide training for all types of swimmers whether their goal to is to keep fit, or become the next best superstar. With our silver-licensed coach Jono Ellis, we provide technical, strength, and speed training to progress the swimmers to become more efficient while swimming through the water. We are 100% focused on improving each individual at All Star Aquatics and with the understanding you only want the best for your child, we also appreciate your trust in our decisions and suggestions.

Outline

In the Development Squad, the swimmer is introduced to a Squad training environment. Where numbers could be up to 15 in the group at any one time. The children in this group will be introduced to some new drills to develop their strokes (all 4 competitive strokes). They will also use flippers to strengthen their body position in the water and help them become more autonomous and skilful swimmers. This squad will also focus on skills such as diving, turns, and lane etiquette.

Prerequisites
  • Swim freestyle and backstroke with correct technique for 25m
  • Demonstrate basic skills for Breaststroke and Butterfly kick
Outline

The Junior Squad program will introduce the swimmers to competitive swimming. The coaching will focus on stroke correction. Swimmers will train for all strokes including the I.M, with turns to be practiced in more detail whether it be specific sroke or I.M turns. Swimmers moving into Juniors Squad should be able to swim 200m freestyle and 50m in the other strokes with correct technique. Diving is essential and swimmers should be capable of doing freestyle and backstroke tumble turns.

Prerequisites
  • Swimmer is able to swim 200m freestyle non-stop with good technique
  • Swim 50m of every other stroke
  • Complete freestyle turns autonomously
  • Be confident with diving from the blocks

Qualifying Times

The following times are required to met by swimmers who wish to move into the Junior Squad.

Outline

This squad has been introduced to assist the swimmers make the transition from Junior Squad level to Senior Squad. They will train along side the Senior Squad for the most part and be introduced to proper programming for energy systems in order to have them ready to compete at a highly competitive environment.

There is a distinct increase in intensity in the training for this group from Junior Squad level. Stroke correction and skill development will still play a major part, particularly in the recovery parts of the sessions. Drills will get more complex in order for the swimmer to become as efficient in the water as possible. Swimmers in the intermediate squad will get a look at some of the Athlete Development programs that the Senior group take part in.

  • Must be able to swim 500m freestyle with good technique
  • Swim 200m Freestyle in under 4:00

  • Compete for a swimming club
  • Train during winter

Outline

The highest level of swimming that can be achieved with All Star Aquatics. The swimmers in this will train at a very high intensity and certain standards will have to be met and maintained to be a part of this Squad.

This squad is designed for swimmers at higher level of racing and competing. each session will be varied to develop and enhance different energy levels of the body's system. This squad is highly challenging and competitive.

  • Swim 1km in under 17:30

  • Strive to qualify for State level meets (Sprints, Open Water, Short Course, or State Champs)
  • Train during winter

Outline

Our Masters squad is for anyone over 18 whether you are a young athlete who doesn't have the eye for competitions, an adult who is looking to keep fit, or if you're looking to compete at the Masters Games. Our Masters squad focus on maintaining a certain level of fitness body by training on a similar program to our senior squad, while also catering for each of the different levels our masters swimmers are at.
